FLATCOLOR GALLERY: Feb 4th

Thank you to all of my friends and family for coming out to the show last night! There were some really nice pieces in the show - the other 6 artists live out of state - unfortunately, I wish I could've met them. If you get a chance to check out the show, it will be up for the month of February.

The first painting was from a past show at Bluebottle Gallery. We didn't have a theme to go off of, so I decided to use this initial painting as a jump-start for the rest of my pieces.

Illo Friday : CONFINED

I've never been one to play Scrabble, but Dev recently got me hooked on the "Words with Friends" app! But, what drives me bonkers is always seem to get stuck with the letter "Q" without any good tiles to work with... I'm left with the only option to slide that dang Q next to an "I" for "Qi". Meh. I've got to learn to ditch the "Q" earlier in the game. ;-)

STUMPYFRIENDS, literally.

I had the most incredible surprise of my life last night. I truly had no idea the party was planned and I was genuinely confused the moment I walked through the door. To be surrounded by friends and family... it was overwhelming.

I owe a big THANK YOU to Dev, my sister Kim and Patrick, my folks, Lily and Dru - you schemers!, my relatives and all of my amazing friends I've grown to know and love all of these years. I'm the luckiest person in the world having you all in my life.

I turn 40 next week... I've had mixed feelings about it. This past year, I've talked with Dev and Kim about the feelings I had about how silly it seemed to do 'Stumpytown' in my 'old age'. They both have been unbelievably supportive and encouraging... I feel embarrassed that thought had crossed my mind.

My husband and friends created a Stumpytown Tribute show for me! I cannot believe they did this. I was blown away. I still am speechless...

Johnny Drama...

Today, Dev sent around a link of a great caricature artist, Paul Linsley.
I LOVE his LOST characters. It got me inspired to attempt a caricature (non-stumpytown style) of Kevin Dillon as Johnny 'Drama'! I didn't distort his face enough, but its been a while since I've done this sort of thing.

Man, I haven't watched Twin Peaks in since it aired in 1990. I'd like to rent the series again - I remember being disappointed in the movie because it wasn't nearly as disturbing as I thought it would be.

Dev's Birthday gift: Stumpy Batman!

Hey Everybody!
I made this for Dev (based off of my StumpyFriends painting for the 'Saturday Morning' show.) I started the pattern around the time I made Admiral Ackbar, and luckily things cooled down at work enough to give me some time to make this for his birthday. YAY!
He is about 16 inches tall.

It's been too long since my last post. We've been so busy at Loose Cannon these past few months, I haven't had any time to create new works for Stumpytown. I'm embarrassed I haven't even turned ON my home computer since last fall, and not to mention frustrated - I've been having problems w/my email! (getting and sending) I may have to change my email address... again. GREAT.
