Art Blocks for Ghana

Our friend Misael at PopCap involved us with a pretty cool project called Art Blocks for Ghana. It is a charity auction that will help build a children's home in Ghana next year.

This is my contribution. "HOME"
6"x6", Balsa wood, glass, cel paints and arcyla-gouache.

Here are a few in-progress images:

New Bento Box Lunches!

I made a new Edamame keychain Bento Lunch to go along with my Tempura Shrimp Bentos. (Thanks to LadySally for the custom order on Etsy!)  I'll be making more of these for next year's Emerald City Comic Con in March. Possibly, along with a Chicken Karaage Bento as well!)

PopCap Remastering Project

I really overextended myself these past couple of months, taking on too many commissions, pro-bono and personal projects.  So of course, when PopCap created a 'just for office fun'  "Remastering Project" (taking images found at local thrift stores and turning them into new pieces of art), I decided to participate.  We were given a couple of weeks to work on them, but as per usual, I worked on it for a few hours the night before the deadline. HA.

Here is the before and after:
 Colored pencils and Copic markers.

Stumpy TaunTaun

I meant to post this a while back. This Stumpy-TaunTaun was made for our group PopCap Artshow at Two Bells Bar in Belltown. He's made of Faux fur & wool felt, mounted on a solid wood plaque.

Stumpy Monster

I made this plush for Brian and Jen (actually, for their daughter Lily!) It took me a year to finally get it to them, but I think they liked it, regardless of the delay.

This little guy has interchangeable parts: stumpy arms, long arms and I'm currrently in the process of making some angel and batwings for the back. It has been a while since I worked with thick, faux fur - it was so difficult to work with, not to mention the big mess it left all over my studio and me! But, I'm happy how he came out.

UPDATE! Please read!

UPDATE!

If you find this page, please either click my Banner or go to 'www.stumpytown.com' to find my recent posts! Something happened to my blog during the past migration and you may not see the new stuff. Booo.

-------------------------------------------------------

Just a heads up folks, as of May 1, Blogger will no longer support FTP publishing. I am about to attempt this crazy-migration-tool-thingie and see what happens. Cross your fingers... it looks like a bumpy ride ahead...

Along with the Stumpy Henchman #21 plushies, I made some Severed-hand Keychains and Tempura Shrimp Keychain Bento Boxes for the ComicCon!

I currently don't have anymore available, but will be making more soon for my Etsy.

Flatcolor Gallery: Henchmen & Sidekicks

Here is my peice for the Henchmen & Sidekicks show at Flatcolor Gallery this month. It's Gary, a.k.a. Henchman #21 from The Venture Bros.! I wanted him to look like a Butterfly specimen / dissected frog, thus the guts and shadowbox. He is made of basswood and painted with Acryla-Gouche and Cel-paints.
I can't say enough about brand spankin' new X-acto blades. The first few cuts are the just... the best. I went through 3 blades on this tiny piece.
Here is Dev's piece, Mxyxptlk and Batmite! I love the expressions in all of Dev's characters... ;-)
