stumpy skulls
These were a few test skulls. I tried to paint them to look like bone. I originally wanted to make them pendants/necklaces. But maybe magnets? Some friends suggested pins or hairclips! (great idea!)
What do you think?
"Privacy Please!"
Paperclay, acrylic paint, gravel and shrink plastic
This is another paper clay dude. He is about 2 inches tall.
I found some "gravel" for dioramas at a craft store - thought it would make perfect kitty litter!

Oh, and the book he is reading is "Success for Dummies".

A BIG THANKS to Eliot Mechanism for curating and to James Monosmith for inviting us all into his fantastic Gallery. The show is up until Feb. 24th!!!

Alfred.

Our friends, Jordan and Lindsay, had the difficult task of saying goodbye to their dear 'son' Alfred last month. He was such a special dog... a gentle giant.  He will be missed.

...in memory of Alfred...

Chokadillo!

Our friend Rich (who is an insanely talented artist) commissioned me to make a plush artichoke and armadillo for Halle. I was so excited when I found the perfect suede velvet!

I thought it would be funny if the little dude was hiding (as a surprise) inside the choke.
This is how it turned out - they call it Chokadillo!

Stumpy Votive Candles

I made these votives for my friend Amber - of her adorable cats Stella and Pepper. This was the first time working with water slide decals. I think they turned out ok!

Lil' Bub

I made this charm of Lil' bub for my friend Erin. She is an incredibly creative artist and potter. Check out her wares on Etsy!

She and I share a love for lil' bub and I was so excited to give this to her.

PLUSH YOU : SCHMANCY

I've been neglecting this blog for so long... mainly because I haven't been creating much as of late. But that is about to change. I am aiming to get a ton of work done for ECCC next year, so posts will start rolling in again. Please come back to visit Stumpytown!

Here are a few of the pieces I made for this year's PLUSH YOU show at Schmancy Toys!
Kristin is lovely person with an amazing store. Stop by if you happen to be downtown. She's right next door to the Moore Theatre!

New locket pendant

Phantom Zone:  Superman II, 1980

I created the digital image, printed it on matte paper, coated it in resin and encased it in a glass locket. It is about 1 3/4 inches long.

New Items in my Etsy Shop!

Bomb Pop!
STUMPYTOWN ETSY

I added a handful of the pendants I sold at this year's Emerald City Comic Con to my Etsy Shop. The idea: a mashup of movie/comic book characters + the 80s.  Pure nostalgia.

If you have a chance, please check them out!  Click on the link above or my Etsy widget on the LEFT side column of my blog. I am in the process of making a few new pendants as well as making more of the designs I am currently sold out of. I'll be posting soon.

Cheers!

Bob the...not so angry Flower

Our friend Steve will have a new comic out for this year's San Diego Comic Con, Bob the Angry Flower!

He was nice enough to ask a bunch of his artist friends to create a piece for his Pinup Gallery. He specified:  "Anything that has to do with anything from Bob the Angry Flower" and "Style: Yours. Not mine. Interpretations rather than replications. Follow your heart!"

My stumpy contribution.
